The Sovremenny, a Russian destroyer is a plastic kit of a Russian guided missile destroyer in 1:700 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian Sovremenny class guided missile destroyer in 1:700 scale from the Russian firm Zvezda. The 1:700 scale is the most widespread one for warships, so the model fits a display case well and can be placed alongside other vessels in the same scale.
The Sovremenny was a Soviet and Russian class of guided missile destroyers designed above all for fighting surface ships. It is recognizable by the pair of angled fixed launchers for anti-ship missiles on the sides of the superstructure and by two twin 130 mm gun turrets, an unusually powerful gun armament for a modern ship. An anti-aircraft system was added to that, and aft there was a platform with a hangar for a helicopter. The PLA Navy bought several units as well.
Glue the hull up and fill and sand back the lengthwise seam. In 1:700 scale the parts are small, so have tweezers and good lighting ready. Finish and paint the superstructure, the launchers and the turrets separately and fit them onto the completed hull. Spray the gray finish with heavily thinned paint in thin coats; a wash in this scale needs to be very light, otherwise the model looks dirty. Photo-etched railing is the usual accessory in this scale and it lifts a model considerably.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
