Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the light cruiser Oakland. The main purchasing distinction is the equipment level: this is the Standard version, that is the basic level, which builds on plastic parts and decals. The manufacturer also releases the same ship in the Deluxe edition, which adds detailing accessories to the plastic, and the Platinum level stands highest in the line. The scope of the accessories differs from vessel to vessel, so check the contents on the box. The CL-95 designation belongs to a light cruiser.
Oakland was a modified unit of the Atlanta class and the first of the four ships that are sometimes treated as a separate Oakland class. She was an anti-aircraft cruiser: the main armament consisted of sixteen guns of 127 mm caliber, supplemented by a number of automatic cannon of 40 and 20 mm caliber. Compared with the Atlanta class she lost the pair of wing turrets, which improved stability. She entered service in 1943 and went through the fighting for Leyte as well as the final attacks on the Japanese home islands. The cruiser earned nine battle honors.
Decide between the full hull and the waterline, as the choice of stand depends on it too. The dense anti-aircraft armament is the main area of detail, so paint it on the sprue and fit it only at the very end. Paint the decks separately from the hull and mask the transitions of the camouflage. A separately purchased photo-etched set with railings lifts the finished model considerably.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
