A-7E Corsair II, VA-93 Ravens NF301, 1981 is a finished die-cast collector model in 1:72 scale from Century Wings, not a kit. A limited edition of 1002 pieces.
Responsibility details are not available.
A finished model from the Wings of Heroes line, not a kit. Mostly metal alloy with plastic parts and tampo-printed markings that will not fade and will not peel off the way decals do. The manufacturer limited the edition to 1002 pieces.
The A-7E Corsair II was a subsonic carrier-based attack aircraft. It grew out of the airframe of the F-8 Crusader fighter: the fuselage was shortened, the afterburner was dropped and a more fuel-efficient TF41 turbofan engine came in its place, and it carried the M61 rotary cannon. Crews called it the SLUF because of its stubby shape. Thanks to its equipment for precise navigation and sighting it could put a bomb on the target far more reliably than attack aircraft of the previous generation, and it stayed in service until the end of the 1980s.
The model carries the number 301 and the NF code of carrier air wing CVW-5 of the VA-93 Ravens squadron from 1981. CVW-5 was permanently forward-deployed in Japan aboard the aircraft carrier USS Midway, so it was one of the few American carrier air wings with a home port outside the United States. Watch out for the sister item: the manufacturer also released machine NF300 from 1980, which has the different color scheme of the commander's aircraft, so compare the number on the fuselage and the year before buying.
This is a finished item, not a kit. Check the version, the state of assembly, the painting and the extent of the package on the box.
