An injection-molded plastic kit of the German twin-engine Arado Ar 240 in 1:72 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. The Model Set version adds the basic paints, a brush and glue to the model, so the box holds more than the kit alone. The model is built as a static display model.
The Ar 240 was a twin-engine, multi-seat aircraft meant to serve as a heavy fighter and a reconnaissance machine. The design was ambitious for its day: a pressurized crew cabin, remotely controlled defensive gun stations instead of conventional manned positions, and airbrakes at the rear of the fuselage. It was the complexity of these very solutions that brought constant trouble, and the flying qualities remained problematic, so the type never received large-scale production. Only a small number of machines were built, and they were used above all in reconnaissance duties.
Finish the cabin and the inside of the engine nacelles before the fuselage is closed, because later you cannot reach them. On twin-engine models the joints of the nacelles with the wing tend to show most, so fill them and sand them back. Mask the glazing and cement it with a glue for clear parts. Leave the propellers to the end. Late German camouflage comes alive with soft transitions and a fine wash in the panel lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. According to the manufacturer, the Model Set contains the basic paints, a brush and glue; other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
