A plastic kit of the American Boeing B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber in 1:72 scale from the Polish manufacturer Hobby 2000. Hobby 2000 builds its packagings on the molds of established manufacturers and adds its own decals and schemes to them; with this kit the plastic is from the Academy mold. According to the manufacturer the package holds new decals and painting masks for the glazing.
The B-29 was a technical leap for its time: a four-engine bomber with a pressurized fuselage, which let the crew work at great altitude without oxygen masks, and with remotely controlled defensive turrets aimed from sighting stations. It found its use in the Pacific in 1944 and 1945 in the attacks on the Japanese islands.
The model has a great deal of glazing — use the masks straight away and glue the clear parts with canopy glue, which will not fog the plastic. The lengthwise joints of the fuselage and the leading edges will call for putty and sanding. If you want a metal finish, the base decides everything: a perfectly smooth gloss black or gray, and only then the metallic paint, applied at the end and left unmasked. Spray a gloss coat under the decals and even the model out with a flat varnish only at the very end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
