1:72 Caproni B.72 from Mikromir is a plastic kit of an Italian experimental torpedo machine of the thirties that was meant to attack just above the water.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the Italian experimental Caproni type B torpedo machine in 1:72 scale. It is a new tool and a typical subject for this brand: a machine that never reached production and about which little recorded data survives. The package holds plastic parts, the clear section of the cockpit canopy, decals for one set of markings, a painting diagram and instructions.
The Caproni type B was neither an aircraft nor a vessel – it was a hybrid. It carried a low-set wing and aircraft engines and was meant to travel in ground effect, that is just above the water, where an opponent would have had trouble aiming at it. Its task was to deliver torpedoes to the target faster than torpedo boats could. The machine stayed at the experimental stage and was never series-produced; its exact figures survive only in fragments. That is precisely why the sources list the real subject sometimes among aircraft and sometimes among vessels.
The long, streamlined hull is the main surface on this kit, so it pays to give time to the seams and to sanding – every unevenness stands out under a glossier finish. Glue the clear section of the canopy on only after the painting is done and protect it with a mask. Try the wing-to-hull joint dry before you reach for the glue. With one surviving set of markings, the safest course is to stay with the diagram supplied.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
