SBS Model 1:72 — Curtiss H-75 A1/A2 Hawk engine is a 3D-printed resin engine set for the Arma Hobby kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft model but a replacement for its engine: an engine set for the Curtiss H-75 A1 and A2 versions in 1:72 scale. The box states that it is cut for the Arma Hobby kit. The Hungarian brand SBS Model makes resin and 3D-printed add-ons and released this set together with a similar set for the Wildcat from the same kit brand. On a radial engine the difference against plastic shows at once, because the cylinder heads are in view under the cowling.
The Curtiss Hawk 75 is the export form of the American fighter that the US Army adopted as the P-36. Curtiss supplied the H-75 A1 and A2 versions to the French Air Force, where they went into combat before the fall of France in 1940 and were among the most successful French fighters of that time. The aircraft was powered by a Pratt & Whitney radial engine, and behind its cowling sits precisely the area that this set addresses. Later versions received different engines, so the installation is not transferable between forms.
Wash the parts clean of print residue and cut off the supports; sand the marks down carefully and protect your breathing while sanding. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the engine while it is still loose: the cylinder heads in a metallic shade, the block dark, the exhausts in a burnt metal color. Suggest the wiring with a fine line. Only then try the engine in the cowling, because once painted the clearance shrinks. Glue the cowling on last and check the propeller axis.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
