An injection-molded plastic kit of the single-seat F-15C Eagle fighter in 1:72 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. This is the Model Set version, to which the manufacturer adds the basic paints, a brush and glue, so the box holds more than the model alone. It is built as a static display model.
The F-15 Eagle is a twin-engine fighter designed in the 1970s for air superiority, that is for combat against other aircraft. The C version is single-seat and came about as an improvement on the original A series with a larger fuel load and more modern avionics. Characteristic features are the large wing area, the pair of vertical tails and the rectangular air intakes, whose ramps move with the flight regime. The machine has an exceptional thrust-to-weight ratio and in the air superiority role it stayed in service with the US Air Force for decades.
Most of the work goes into the joint of the fuselage with the intake ducts and into the wing leading edge, so fill the seams and sand them back before you start spraying. The gray camouflage of air superiority fighters rests on two close shades, so it pays to split the spraying and leave the transition soft. Mask the canopy before any paint goes on the fuselage, lay the decals into an intermediate gloss clear coat and leave the matte coat to the very end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. According to the manufacturer, the Model Set contains the basic paints, a brush and glue; other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
