A 1:72 plastic model kit of the F-16I Fighting Falcon from Hasegawa of Japan: the two-seat Israeli Sufa with conformal fuel tanks and an enlarged dorsal spine.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Israeli F-16I combat aircraft in 1:72 scale from Hasegawa of Japan. The manufacturer also lists it under the number 01564. The model captures the two-seat version with conformal fuel tanks on the upper fuselage and with the enlarged dorsal spine behind the cockpit, that is, with the features by which the Israeli machine is told from ordinary F-16s at first glance.
The F-16I carries the Israeli name Sufa, meaning Storm. It is derived from the two-seat F-16D of a late block and it is an aircraft for deep air missions. The pair of conformal fuel tanks markedly increases the range without taking up the underwing pylons; the enlarged dorsal spine took in Israeli avionics, and the rear seat is the station of the weapon systems operator. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) took the machines on from 2004 and uses them as its main carrier of precision munitions.
On the two-seat version the cockpit is the main area on show, and it rewards harnesses and raised detail on the instrument panels. Glue the plastic with liquid cement for polystyrene, and mask and paint the transparent canopy carefully. The Israeli desert camouflage has three tones and calls for an airbrush over a primer coat. Decals settle better on a gloss coat and are oversprayed with a matte or semi-matte one once dry.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
