An injection-molded plastic kit of the German StuG III assault gun in the Ausf.G variant in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. This is the most numerous and final production version, which the model captures with the commander's cupola and a surface covered with molded-on Zimmerit. The box holds injection-molded plastic on several sprues together with one-piece flexible tracks and illustrated instructions; markings for several vehicles are enclosed.
The Ausf.G was the most widespread version of the StuG III and it was built in large numbers right up to the end of the war. It carried the long 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48 gun and it received a commander's cupola with periscopes and a reworked superstructure. Many vehicles had a cast rounded gun mantlet, nicknamed the pig's head, and side armor skirts. Zimmerit was applied to the armor against magnetic charges. Thanks to cheap production and a low silhouette the StuG III became one of the most effective and most frequently deployed German tank destroyers.
First finish the running gear and the lower hull, and only then fit the superstructure. The molded-on Zimmerit will stand out once it is brought up with a dark wash and dry brushing. Spray the three-color camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats and weather the running gear with dust pigments for mud and dust effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
