Panzerstahl 88033 Hetzer of early production is a finished 1:72 collector's model - a light tank destroyer in markings from France, October 1944.
Responsibility details are not available.
This collector's model of the light tank destroyer Hetzer is supplied finished, painted and with markings. Nothing is built and nothing is painted; the model stands on a base under a clear cover and goes straight into the display case. The finish corresponds to a vehicle of the early production series in markings from France in the fall of 1944.
The Hetzer was built on a chassis derived from the Czechoslovak LT vz. 38 tank and from 1944 it was produced in the plants in Prague and Pilsen. The aim was to get an effective antitank gun onto a cheap chassis that was easy to manufacture. The result was a low vehicle with markedly sloped front armor and with the gun mounted to the right of the longitudinal axis in a fixed superstructure. The early production series differed from the later ones in the details of the exhaust, in the stowage of the spare road wheels and in the design of the machine gun shield on the roof of the superstructure. The low silhouette was an advantage in defense, but the crew had very little room inside and the view to the sides was poor. On the Western Front in the fall of 1944 Hetzers appeared with the antitank battalions of the infantry divisions, which thanks to them got a tracked vehicle able to face Allied tanks from a prepared position for the first time.
The model is finished and painted; it is not a kit. The base and the cover are included in the package, other accessories are not, unless stated otherwise.
