Printed machine guns for the Junkers Ju-52/3mg4e in 1:72 scale for the Airfix kit. A replacement for the defensive armament, with fine details that get lost in plastic at this scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of printed machine guns for the defensive positions of the Junkers Ju-52 transport aircraft in the 3mg4e version, in 1:72 scale. It is an accessory, not an airplane kit. The parts are made by 3D printing from resin, so they have a thin barrel, a legible jacket and fine details of the breech and the magazine, of a kind that could not come out of a plastic mold in 1:72. The manufacturer has designated the set for the Airfix kit.
The Ju-52 was not a combat aircraft, but as a transport it operated over the front and needed defensive armament. In the versions from the start of the war, machine guns appeared in a dorsal position and in the side windows, worked by members of the crew. The firepower was weak and no match for fighters, yet these weapons are among the typical marks of the military Junkers and on a model a viewer looks for them first.
Separate the parts from the print supports with a sharp knife, sand down the pads and wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting. They are glued with super glue, and because these are small and fragile shapes, it pays to work with tweezers and over a surface from which a lost part can be found again. A weapon looks best with a dark base, a fine metallic dry brush on the edges and a matte varnish at the end.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The Airfix kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
