Printed exhausts for the Junkers Ju-52 in 1:72 scale for the Airfix kit. Parts with an open mouth, which a plastic molding cannot offer at this scale.

A set of printed exhausts for the three-engine Junkers Ju-52 in 1:72 scale. This is not an airplane kit but a replacement part for a model. The main advantage of printing is plain at first glance here: the mouth of the exhaust is genuinely open and the wall is thin, whereas a plastic part tends to be blind and has to be laboriously drilled out. The manufacturer has designated the set for the Airfix kit.
The Ju-52 was powered by three air-cooled radial engines and the exhaust piping was among the most conspicuous features of their nacelles. On aircraft in service it was heavily stained by the exhaust gases as well, so on a model it is almost always dealt with separately. The aircraft itself could operate from short and unpaved strips, carrying cargo, paratroopers and the wounded, and its corrugated duralumin skin became its hallmark.
Separate the parts from the print supports, smooth the pads and wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting. They are glued with super glue. The most convincing result comes from a dark brown to rust base, over which thin coats of orange and gray are laid and a fine sooty tinge is added around the mouth at the end. Leave the inside of the mouth dark so that it keeps its depth.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The Airfix kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
