Resin wheels for the EC-121 Warning Star in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Plusmodel. Landing gear detail for a model of this radar picket aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of cast wheels for the American EC-121 Warning Star radar picket aircraft in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Plusmodel. On a large four-engine machine the wheels carry the whole weight of the model and are at the same time at the viewer's eye level, so it pays not to skimp on them. Castings usually have better tread detail and the sag of the tire suggested.
The EC-121 Warning Star was the military version of the Lockheed Constellation airliner, adapted for long-range radar picket duty. Its identifying features are the large antenna radomes above and below the fuselage. Machines of this type served as flying radar stations and in Southeast Asia they directed fighters onto targets that could not be seen from the ground.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and cut the casting blocks off with a saw so that the cut falls where the wheel meets the ground. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the tires dark gray, leave the crown lighter and apply a dark wash into the tread. Set the wheel rims apart with a metallic shade and dirty the lower part of the wheels with dust pigment, otherwise they will look factory fresh.
The set is an accessory for a kit and does not replace the kit. Paints, glue and a model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
