A plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Kovozavody Prostejov. The subject is a Soviet fighter of the Second World War in the markings of the Soviet Air Force. The manufacturer has not yet released the detailed contents of the package for this new item, so neither the number of parts nor the number of color schemes is documented.
The La-5 came about by rebuilding the not very successful LaGG-3 fighter, whose liquid-cooled engine the designers replaced with an air-cooled Shvetsov ASh-82 radial, a two-row fourteen-cylinder engine. The result was an agile and robust machine of wooden construction that from 1942 matched the contemporary German fighters in combat and became one of the symbols of the Soviet Air Force.
Injection-molded plastic is bonded with liquid cement for polystyrene, which is drawn into the seam by capillary action. Sand off the flash before gluing and try the parts dry. Apply a primer before painting; a smooth surface comes out best with an airbrush. Decals adhere best over a gloss clear coat, and once dry they should be sealed with a matte one. Glue the clear parts with canopy glue so that they do not fog.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
