An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. It belongs to the manufacturer's P-Series line, which covers the German aircraft projects of the end of the Second World War that stayed on the drawing board. The Model Set version adds the basic paints, a brush and glue to the model, so it is a box ready for building.
The P.1099 was a Messerschmitt design that started from the layout of the Me 262 jet and tried to get more out of it: it took over the wing and the engine nacelles, but received a bulkier fuselage. The aircraft was never built, so its performance remains an estimate and the surviving documentation differs from one version to another. The kit is therefore a model of a design study rather than a copy of an existing machine, and in the same way the markings supplied are imagined into the form in which the aircraft might have served.
Assemble the model with a thin cement for plastic, applied into the seam with a fine brush. With a project aircraft you have no period photographs to lean on, so it pays to stick to the schemes in the instructions. Even out the surface with a base color, bring out the panel lines with a fine wash and mask the canopy before spraying. Late-war camouflage looks good when the upper pattern is sprayed with a soft transition and the edges are not overrun.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. According to the manufacturer, the Model Set contains the basic paints, a brush and glue; other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
