An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern eight-wheeled armored vehicle Boxer in the version of a heavily armored ambulance, in 1:72 scale. The manufacturer is the German company Revell and it is a Model Set edition: besides the sprues with the parts, the decals and the instructions the package also holds a basic set of paints, a brush and glue. The kind of paints supplied is stated on the box.
The Boxer is a joint German and Dutch project built on a single idea: a heavy armored chassis with eight driven wheels onto which interchangeable mission modules are fitted. One vehicle can therefore be a troop carrier, a command post or, as here, an ambulance; the abbreviation in the name stands for a heavily armored medical vehicle. The medical module carries space for treating the wounded under the protection of armor — in evacuation from combat that is decisive.
Eight wheels mean four axles to fit: check that the vehicle stands level on all its wheels before the glue cures. Paint the tires separately in a dark shade and the rims in the color of the hull. The large smooth areas of the module and the hull are rewarding for a brush, but put the paint on in thin coats, otherwise streaks stay. Draw the three-color camouflage with a drier brush; dust on the wheels and the belly gives the look of real service. Choose the thinner according to the kind of paints from the box.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. With the Model Set edition the basic paints, a brush and glue are, according to the manufacturer, part of the package; other accessories are not.
