An injection-molded plastic kit of the NH90 helicopter in the naval NFH version, that is NATO Frigate Helicopter, in 1:72 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. The Model Set version adds the basic paints, a brush and glue to the model. The model is built as a static display model.
The NH90 is a twin-engine transport helicopter from the European NHIndustries consortium, developed as a common type for several armed forces. It is produced in two basic lines: a land tactical version and the naval NFH version, which is intended for service from the decks of frigates and other surface vessels. The naval version differs from the land one in equipment for anti-submarine work and for search and rescue, in a folding main rotor and a folding tail section so that the helicopter fits into a ship's hangar, and in corrosion protection of the structure. The fuselage is largely of composites and the controls are fully fly-by-wire.
With a helicopter it pays to build and paint the cabin before the fuselage is closed, because afterward you cannot reach into it. The glazing is large, so mask it and cement it with a glue for clear parts that does not fog. Leave the rotor blades to the end and cement the rotor head only after spraying. A dark naval finish comes alive when the panel lines are brought out with a fine wash and wear is carefully suggested on the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. According to the manufacturer, the Model Set contains the basic paints, a brush and glue; other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
