Responsibility details are not available.
A short-run injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet heavy bomber TB-1 in its airborne-landing form in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian company Amodel. With the aircraft the manufacturer also supplies equipment that it designates KP-1. It is a sizeable model with large assemblies broken down into parts, meant for experienced modelers used to short-run molds.
The TB-1, originally designated ANT-4, was the first Soviet all-metal heavy bomber and one of the first large metal aircraft in the world. It entered service in the second half of the 1920s and more than two hundred were built by 1932. It was a twin-engined high-wing monoplane with a corrugated metal skin and fixed landing gear. In the 1930s bold ideas were tried out on it: it served as an airborne carrier platform for fighters and as the machine for the first Soviet experiments with air-dropping heavy equipment.
Try the large assemblies dry first and glue them only then; the joints have to be filled and sanded down. Sand corrugated metal very carefully, as the grooves are easily rubbed away — on this type it is therefore better to fill with thin layers of filler applied several times over. Seat the wing against a jig so that both halves have the same dihedral. The metal surface of the aircraft comes out best from a metallic lacquer applied with an airbrush over a smooth base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
