Responsibility details are not available.
A model of the Soviet jet airliner in 1:72 scale. It is a resin kit from the Czech maker HPH Models, which casts its parts into silicone molds under vacuum. The brand has long specialized in large airliners in this scale. The build is more demanding than with injection-molded plastic, and the model is therefore intended for experienced modelers.
The Tu-104 was the first Soviet jet airliner and in the mid-1950s one of the few jet transports in the world in regular service. It came about by converting the Tu-16 bomber, from which it took the wing, the tail surfaces and the engines buried in the wing roots, and it was given a new, wider fuselage with windows. The Tu-104A version had an enlarged cabin capacity compared with the basic form. The aircraft flew with the Soviet carrier and also with Czechoslovak Airlines, which were its only foreign operator.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent, or the paint will not hold on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter, never break them off. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is, with super glue, because cement for plastic does not soften resin. Use respiratory protection when sanding and cutting. A primer coat is needed before painting, and it will at the same time show up any imperfections in the surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
