A set of cast propellers for the American Curtiss C-46 Commando transport aircraft in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Plusmodel. On a twin-engine machine the propeller is one of the most exposed parts: it is visible from every angle and its shape strongly affects the overall impression. The castings have thinner and more sharply profiled blades than injection-molded plastic.
The Curtiss C-46 Commando was a twin-engine transport aircraft with radial engines, a capacious fuselage and a large payload. It made its name above all on the route over the eastern spur of the Himalayas, where in difficult conditions it supplied the Chinese front. It was larger and more powerful than the more widespread C-47, but more demanding to maintain.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces. Set the blades at the same angle and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the spinner separately from the blades; that gives you a sharp division without masking. Apply warning stripes to the blade tips and sand the edges lightly, because the leading edges of blades always get scuffed in service.
The set is an accessory for a kit and does not replace the kit. Paints, glue and a model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
