Amodel 1:72 Yakovlev Yak-9P is a plastic kit of the postwar all-metal version of the Soviet Yak-9 fighter, which went into production in 1946.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Yak-9P kit from the Ukrainian brand Amodel is an unassembled plastic model in 1:72 scale with part number 7286; the manufacturer spells the type Yakovlev Yak-9P. The package holds plastic parts, a clear canopy, a decal sheet and instructions with a painting diagram. This is the postwar version, not a machine from the fighting of the Second World War.
The Yak-9 was the most numerous Soviet fighter of the Second World War, with a Klimov engine and a light mixed wood-and-metal structure. The Yak-9P version, by contrast, is postwar: it was derived from the all-metal Yak-9U and went into production in 1946, more than a year after the end of the war in Europe. It had an all-metal wing, heavier fuselage armament and more advanced equipment. It stayed in service until jets came along, part of the production went for export, and the Yak-9P also appeared in the equipment of the North Korean Air Force at the start of the Korean War.
With kits from short-run molds, expect to sand down the mold parting lines, to check the fit of the fuselage halves and to fill the wing roots. Glue the canopy with cyanoacrylate away from the frame so that it does not fog. Postwar Soviet machines wore a smooth, fairly glossy finish, so it pays to smooth the base and lay on thin coats, because every sanding scratch shows through a gloss.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
