This is a book, not a kit. This title is volume number 11 of the Airframe Detail series of the British publisher Valiant Wings Publishing — a concentrated technical guide to a single type of aircraft, put together for modelers whatever the scale they build in. The author is Richard A. Franks. A list of the serial numbers of Battles is part of the volume as well.
The Battle was a British single-engine light bomber with a crew of three and a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. In the second half of the thirties it meant a leap forward: a cantilever all-metal low-wing monoplane took the place of the biplanes of the previous generation. By 1940, however, development had overtaken it — it was slow, weakly armed in defense, and in the Battle of France its squadrons suffered crippling losses in low-level attacks on crossings and columns. The remaining machines then served mainly for training crews and for target towing, a large part of them in Canada.
For modelers of the Battle who are looking for evidence on the cockpit, the bomb bay, the engine and the markings, and for readers interested in RAF Bomber Command in the first months of the war and in the Battle of France.
