A work mat in A3 format intended for cutting and trimming parts. It is not a model and not an accessory to a kit, but equipment for the modeling bench. A3 format means an area of roughly 42x30 centimeters, which comfortably takes a sprue with parts as well as a part-built model and still fits on an ordinary desk.
It suits anyone who builds on a table that serves other purposes as well. It will be appreciated most by modelers working with a sharp knife: a blade goes blunt quickly on a hard board and on glass it even chips, while on a softer mat it lasts considerably longer. It is also practical when the work has to be put aside for a few days, because it can be carried away with the part-built pieces still on it.
When choosing a place for the mat, bear in mind that you work on it with a sharp tool: you need a firm base that does not rock and enough room at the sides for setting parts down. It also helps to keep only what you are working on at that moment on the mat. A part-built sprue, tweezers and a knife have their place on an A3 area, the rest of the tools belong beside it, otherwise a tiny part gets lost at exactly the moment you need it.
Always work away from your body and put the knife down with the cap on. Do not expose the mat to direct heat and do not use it as a base under soldering or under a heat gun.
