A sanding plate is a rigid backing onto which abrasive paper is stuck and which guarantees that the face being sanded really will be flat. Fingers and a soft sponge cannot manage that, because they adapt to the surface and copy the very unevenness you are meant to remove. This variant has a perpendicular profile, so it can sand right up to an inner wall and keep a right angle between two faces.

The workmanship

The body is of aluminum alloy, which with a sanding plate is decisive: metal does not flex under pressure and a flat face stays flat even after years. The red version distinguishes this variant from the other profiles in the range, so that you do not get confused during work and reach for a plate of a different shape.

How to work with it

• Stick the paper onto a clean surface; it will not hold on dust and shifts on the first stroke.
• Guide the abrasive on its whole mating surface; resting it on an edge will cut a scratch into the part.
• Work in strokes of the same length, as uneven strokes create a wave.
• Set the perpendicular profile so that it beds against both sides of the corner, otherwise you will round the corner off.

Who it is for

The plate is for modelers who sand inner corners, mating surfaces and joints that are meant to stay square, that is on buildings, containers, crates, superstructures and designs of their own. Abrasive papers are not included in the package.

The profiles in the range complement one another, so anyone who sands intricate parts will usually reach for all three in turn. Do not breathe in the sanding dust from plastic and resin; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
