A sanding jig with a joint by which the working face is set to a particular angle and stays there. Sanding at an angle by hand is unreliable in principle: the inclination changes during the stroke and the resulting face is not flat but a slight curve. The jig holds the angle and makes it possible to produce a series of parts with the same bevel, which with edges, lead-in faces and transitions is decisive.
The body combines aluminum alloy with hard plastic and the adjustment covers a full half circle, that is from zero to one hundred eighty degrees. Abrasive paper is stuck onto the working face and the manufacturer makes shaped self-adhesive papers of its own for the jig, so cutting from a sheet is done away with.
The jig will be appreciated by those who sand beveled edges, lead-in faces and series of identical parts, typically on conversions, designs of their own and scratchbuilding from plastic profiles. Abrasive papers are not included in the package and are sold separately.
Do not breathe in the sanding dust from plastic and resin; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
