DSPIAE AT-MPB is a small bender for photo-etched parts. The smaller version, with twelve bending teeth and a spring-loaded clamping plate.
Responsibility details are not available.
A bender is a jig that grips a photo-etched part exactly at the line of the bend and makes it possible to fold it into a sharp edge. Without one, thin sheet bends wherever it happens to be weakest, which as a rule is not where it should. This is the smaller of the manufacturer's two versions, designed for small parts that are awkward to load into a large bender.
According to the manufacturer it has twelve small bending teeth and one tooth on the short side, so the width of the bite can be chosen to suit the part. The clamping plate is supported by a spring and lifts away by itself once the knob is released, which when working one-handed means you do not have to hold the part and loosen the clamp at the same time.
The bender is for modelers working with photo-etch sets, especially with small parts such as latches, hinges, brackets, mounts and steps. For long parts running across the whole width of a model the large version is more suitable.
Try the bend on an offcut of the photo-etch fret left over once the parts have been removed. The material and the thickness are the same, so you find the clamping pressure you need without the risk of ruining the part itself. Photo-etched parts have very sharp edges, so be careful when working with them.
