What the chucking guide does

The guide holds the needle on its axis and turns the pull of the main lever into travel back and forward; together with the needle chucking nut it therefore decides how precisely the paint is metered. The manufacturer's instructions for the Aventus call the angle of the face of the guide crucial: when it does not sit right after reassembly, the main lever jams and the needle does not run smoothly.

Fitting and maintenance

• According to the manufacturer's instructions, the part goes back after the main lever is seated, before the spring.
• Check the angle of the face before you screw in the spring case.
• Do not force the needle in; a seated needle has no play left.
