Convair F-102 Delta Dagger is a monograph on the American delta-wing interceptor. It came out as volume 64 of the British Warpaint series, which gives each volume to a single aircraft type and brings its development, service and appearance together in one A4 booklet. The author of the volume is Terry Panopalis. The publication is in English. It is neither a kit nor an accessory for building a model.
The F-102 was the first supersonic delta-wing interceptor in service with the US Air Force. The original airframe did not reach supersonic speed and the fuselage had to be reworked according to the area rule, that is narrowed where the wing meets it. The armament consisted of guided Falcon missiles carried in an internal weapons bay, not of cannons. The machine served with the air defense command and later for many years with National Guard units.
The volume will be appreciated by modelers of American Cold War subjects and by anyone interested in the development of the delta wing. The combination of photographs, drawings and color schemes serves as a reference both for the build and for painting the model.
