A set of twenty foam sanding pads in fine grits from Green Stuff World. The flexible backing follows the shape and will not rub a convex surface flat.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of twenty foam sanding pads in fine grits. The abrasive is applied to a flexible foam that adapts to the shape of the part. That is exactly the difference from sandpaper: on a convex surface paper creates a flat spot, whereas a flexible pad follows the curve and keeps the shape. On fuselages, cowlings and rounded superstructures that is crucial.
Fine grits serve for finishing, not for coarse removal. They are used for smoothing filler, for leveling seams, for taking off the marks of a coarser abrasive and for preparing the surface before a primer is applied. They also suit the stage before the finish coat, where a light rub of the dried paint takes off dust and small irregularities.
Sand wet, so that the dust does not settle and the pad does not clog. Go from a coarser grit to a finer one and never skip several steps, otherwise the deeper scratches will never disappear. Wash and dry the surface after sanding. The pads can be washed out and used again until the abrasive wears off. Check the surface against the light as you go, because scratches show better in a reflection than when you look straight down at them.
Use respiratory protection when sanding, but best of all sand wet.
