Handley Page Hampden and Hereford is a monograph on the British twin-engine bomber and on its variant with different engines. It came out as volume 57 of the British Warpaint series, which gives each volume to a single aircraft type and brings its development, service and appearance together in one A4 booklet. The publication is in English. It is neither a kit nor an accessory for building a model.
The Hampden was a twin-engine bomber with a strikingly narrow fuselage, and because of how cramped it was inside the crews nicknamed it the Flying Suitcase. It was powered by Bristol Pegasus radial engines. It served in the first years of the war with the bomber force and later as a torpedo aircraft. The Hereford was the variant with Napier Dagger H-24 engines, whose cooling troubles kept it from reaching operational units, so most of them ended up in training or were brought back to Hampden standard.
The volume suits modelers of British bombers and anyone interested in the less familiar engine variants. The combination of photographs, drawings and color schemes serves as a reference both for the build and for painting the model.
