Grilles over an engine, filter screens and protective nets tend to be molded flat on plastic kits, and it shows immediately, because a real mesh is see-through. This material solves the problem: it is a fine nylon mesh that you cut to the shape you need and glue in place. According to the manufacturer's data it suits models of aircraft and combat vehicles in 1:72 scale. The sheet measures 19 x 10.5 centimeters.
Cut the mesh with sharp scissors and preferably with a small overlap that you true up after gluing. It is bonded with super glue applied around the edge of the opening rather than in the middle of the area, otherwise the glue soaks through and blocks the holes. First sand or cut the original molded grille out of the plastic, so that space is visible behind the mesh. It can be painted with ordinary modeling paints, but spray them very thinly: a heavy coat blocks the holes and the whole effect disappears.
The material is supplied as a sheet for further working. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
