Junkers Ju 88 by Jerry Scutts is an English-language monograph on the German Ju 88 bomber from the British Warpaint Series, volume number 7. It is a publication, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An A4 softcover publication in English, written by Jerry Scutts. The Warpaint Series covers a single aircraft type in each volume and joins history with reference material for building a model. It is not a kit and not an accessory but a book.
The Ju 88 came about as a fast bomber but ended up as the most versatile German twin-engine machine of the Second World War. Besides level bombing it served for dive attacks, for long-range reconnaissance, as a torpedo carrier and above all as a night fighter, in which it was given a radar and upward-firing cannons as well. It is exactly this variety of versions that makes it a type which never grows old on the modeling bench, because every role had a different nose, different armament and a different camouflage scheme. It was built from the end of the 1930s to the last months of the war and passed through every front, from Britain through the Mediterranean to the east. Anyone building a particular machine therefore needs to know not only the version but also the unit and the period, because a night fighter and a day bomber of the same type have nothing in common visually.
For modelers who build any version of the Ju 88 and are looking for reference on markings and camouflage, and for readers interested in the German air force. The text is in English; the drawings in 1:72 scale and the color profiles are of use even without reading.
