A desk lamp with a built-in magnifier that brings together two things a modeler needs at the same time for fine work: light straight on the part and magnification. The arm can be swung so that the magnifier sits between your eye and the work, and the lighting is arranged around the lens, so the part casts no shadow into the place you are looking at. This version is in dark; the manufacturer also offers the same model in a light variant.
Set the lamp so that the magnifier is at the distance where the image is sharp, and then keep it there. Moving your head closer and further away during the work tires the eyes more than the magnification itself. On long sessions take breaks and look into the distance. Protect the lens from sprayed paint and from thinners; it is wiped dry with a soft cloth. If you clamp the lamp to a table, check that the surface is firm enough.
Do not look directly into the light source and do not leave the lamp switched on unattended.
