A publication, not a kit. Volume 91 of the aviation series from the British publisher Warpaint Books, by Vladimir Trendafilovski, is devoted to the MiG-21. The publisher states for this volume that it follows the development and the service of all its numerous versions and sub-versions and that it examines the use in the former Yugoslavia in particular detail. The text is in English.
The MiG-21 was a Soviet single-engine supersonic fighter with a delta wing and a circular air intake with a movable cone. It began as a light day interceptor, and that very simplicity made it the most produced supersonic aircraft in history. The successive versions, from the early F-13 through the PF and the PFM to the MF and the final bis, added radar, fuel and load, so the aircraft turned into a versatile fighter; it was built under license in India and in China as well. It served with dozens of air arms including the Czechoslovak one, where some of the early aircraft were built at Aero Vodochody. For a modeler it is essential to know which version is being built, because they differ in the nose, the spine and the fin.
For modelers who build the MiG-21 and need to tell the versions and their markings apart, and for anyone interested in the Balkan air arms. The extent of the volume is not stated here; the page count differs between the individual titles in the series.
