MKF-02 Water-Based Soft Head Marker Fluorescent Red is a DSPIAE marker pen in a fluorescent red shade. The binder is acrylic and thins with water, the tip is soft and yielding.
Responsibility details are not available.
Fluorescent red is more saturated and more aggressive than an ordinary red. On a model it is used on signal elements, on lighting effects and everywhere the color is meant to act as a source of light.
The tip is made of a fine spongy material and gives way to the shape of the part. The point draws thin lines, while the side of the tip covers an area in one stroke. The binder is acrylic and thins with water, so the work goes without any smell and without solvents. A dried mark can be wiped off with alcohol, so a mistake can be put right without sanding.
Judge a fluorescent shade only once it has dried. A fresh layer looks darker than it will end up, so it is easy to apply more paint than is needed. Lay it on thinly, therefore, and add a second coat only onto a dry base, otherwise the tip dissolves the first one and the mark smears.
The marker pen will be appreciated by builders of robot kits, figure painters and modelers of military subjects who need a small detail done quickly and without preparing a brush and a palette. It also suits touch-ups on finished models, where mixed paint would only go to waste.
Fluorescent shades cover less well than ordinary paints. On a dark base it pays to lay white underneath them, otherwise they lose their glow. Always put the cap back on after work, otherwise the tip dries out.
