Silver is the most used metallic shade of all. It is not a mirror chrome but a light metal with a visible structure, the kind aluminum and steel have after use.
The tip is made of a fine spongy material and is pliable. The point draws thin lines and outlines edges, while the side of the tip covers a larger area in one stroke. The binder is acrylic and thins with water, so the marker pen is worked with without any smell and without solvents. A dried mark can be wiped off with alcohol, which makes it a technique that forgives mistakes.
Draw the stroke smoothly and in one direction. The tip releases paint according to the pressure, so a firmer press gives a more saturated mark. When layers overlap, wait for the first one to dry, otherwise the tip dissolves it and a smear is left behind. On a vertical surface apply less paint so that it does not run, and try the metallic shade on an offcut beforehand.
The marker pen will be appreciated by builders of robot kits, figure painters and modelers of military subjects who need a small detail done quickly and without preparing a brush and a palette. It also suits touch-ups on finished models, where mixed paint would only go to waste.
Metallic shades look best on a smooth base and are harder to spray over, so apply them toward the end of the build. Always put the cap back on after work. If the tip dries out even so, dipping it lightly in alcohol helps.
