An acrylic marker pen with a soft tip in a gold leaf shade, from DSPIAE. A more saturated and warmer gold than the pale version of the same range.
Responsibility details are not available.
A marker pen with a soft sponge tip filled with acrylic metallic paint. The shade imitates gold leaf, so it is more saturated and warmer than the pale gold of the same range, and it leaves a finely grained metallic sheen on the surface. It comes into its own on decorative elements, hardware, frames, insignia and everywhere gold is meant to be pronounced rather than merely suggested.
The filling is acrylic and water-thinnable. Metallic paint is harder both to spray over and to mask, so apply it at the very end of the work, when the surrounding areas are finished. Cover the tip with the cap after every use; a dried tip can be revived by dipping it briefly in alcohol. Apply a lacquer coat on top only lightly and only after thorough drying, otherwise it will lift the layer. Store the paint out of the reach of children and work in a ventilated room.
For builders of figures, historical subjects and all models where gilding appears on small areas and spraying would be needlessly laborious. It also serves well for repairs: running a marker pen over a scuffed edge is a matter of a second, whereas mixing paint and getting a brush out for it usually means the end of work for that evening.
Store the marker pen tip down or lying flat so that the filling stays at the tip. Standing tip up it dries out faster and the first stroke after a break comes out pale.
