Self-adhesive abrasive papers cut to a shape that fits the round sanding heads of the electric reciprocating sander. The set covers the whole range of grits from a coarse 180 up to a finishing 1200, so with it you go through the work from the coarse leveling of filler to a surface ready for primer, without having to buy the individual grades.

Why a shaped paper

A round head is used on curved surfaces and transitions, where a flat sanding pad would sand a facet. Paper cut from a sheet will never fit it exactly and the edges start to peel away, which under a reciprocating movement means catching and uneven abrasion. A preshaped self-adhesive paper removes that problem and goes on in a matter of seconds.

How to work with it

• Clean the head before sticking the paper on; it will not hold on dust.
• Go through the grits in order; a step that has been skipped shows up only under the paint.
• Work without pressure; the reciprocating movement does the job on its own.
• Replace a clogged paper; a blocked abrasive starts burnishing the surface instead of cutting it.
• Clean the part between grits, as a grain from the coarser step will make a scratch.
