Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa is an English monograph on the main fighter of the Japanese Army Air Force of the Second World War, volume number 147 of the Warpaint Series.
Responsibility details are not available.
An English-language monograph from the Warpaint Series of the British house Guideline Publications. The author is Daniel Kowalczuk. It is a softcover publication in A4 format, not a kit: the package holds no model and no parts for a model. With Japanese types a handbook like this is more valuable than with Western ones, because the period documentation is scattered and the finishes and unit markings are hard to track down.
For modelers who are building a Ki-43 and are looking for a reference for the equipment and the finish of a particular machine, and for anyone interested in Japanese aviation. The Hayabusa was built for agility and low weight: it had weaker armament and at first no armor either, but exceptional handling, and it became the most numerously built fighter of the Japanese Army Air Force. For its likeness to its naval counterpart Allied pilots often mistook it, and so it was given a code name of its own, Oscar. The machine went through several development versions that differ in engine, armament and the shape of the canopy, so the choice of version is the first decision you have to make with the build. The text is in English. Check the extent, the structure and the language version on the packaging.
