A mesh from the Aber company with a regular interlaced opening of 0.8 x 0.8 mm. It is a semi-finished material, that is a sheet from which you cut a piece exactly as you need it yourself. The size of the opening is the only figure that decides the density of the structure, and it is the same in both directions. Regularity of the opening matters more than anything else with a material like this: irregularity shows on a model sooner than with any other detail.
The typical uses are grilles over radiators and engine compartments, stowage baskets and cages on vehicles, fencing and railings on a diorama, or gratings and screens on ships. In 1:35 scale an opening of 0.8 mm corresponds to roughly twenty-eight millimeters in reality, so it suits coarser gratings and mesh rather than fine screens. In smaller scales, on the contrary, it works as a pronounced, clearly readable structure, which pays off where an element is to be evident at first glance.
Cut it with sharp scissors, or back the mesh with a hard plate and run a new blade through it; a blunt tool deforms the opening and the edge frays. First preform the piece to suit the place it belongs to, and only then glue it. Apply super glue in spots and in a small amount, otherwise the openings will be flooded and the structure lost. Before painting, wash the sheet and degrease it, apply the paint in thin coats and preferably from a greater distance, so that the openings do not clog. Do not throw the offcuts away; small pieces come in useful for patches and for making up damaged grilles.
