About product

Pigment Yellow Ochre (Green Stuff World)

A loose pigment powder in an ocher shade, that is a light yellow-brown earth. The package has a volume of 30 milliliters. Pigments are used for dusting, earth build-up, traces of rust and grease and generally for everything that should look settled on a model. It is not a paint in a bottle but a fine powder that is applied to a surface dry or mixed in a liquid.

Use

  • A dry application with a soft brush into seams, onto the running gear and onto the lower part of the hull
  • Mixed in a binder or in mineral spirits as a mud build-up
  • Fixing with a pigment fixer once the application is finished
  • Layering several shades so that the dust does not read as a single flat area
  • Dry surplus can be brushed away at any time until it is fixed
  • The ocher tone suits dry dust and sand; for mud, round it off with a darker brown

What to watch out for

The pigment is a very fine powder, so it scatters easily across the table and settles even where you do not want it. Take it in small amounts and do not blow on it. Watch out for combining it with a gloss surface, as it does not hold on smooth varnish and slides off. The best surface is a matte one. Always spread the pigment into the shape you want before fixing it, as once fixed it cannot be moved.

Safety note

Do not breathe the powder in and work in a well-ventilated room, ideally with a protective mask. Avoid contact with the eyes, keep it out of the reach of children and close the jar carefully.

With a pigment fixer, applied only once the pigment is spread into the shape you want.
