Test pieces for trying out paint, clear version, from DSPIAE. Shaped plastic pieces onto which a shade is sprayed before it goes on the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of small plastic pieces on which a shade is tried out before you touch the model. They are not flat plates but shaped pieces with curves and edges, because it is a curved surface that shows how the paint will really look: on a curve a shade changes with the angle of the light and a flat patch will never give that away.
Clear pieces are intended for clear and tinting paints, that is for shades without covering power. Such a coat cannot be judged on a white or a black base, because the base shows through and changes it; a clear piece, by contrast, shows how the paint will look on glazing and on the clear parts of a model.
Note down for every sprayed piece what it has been painted with, including whether there was a primer under the paint. Without a note the sample loses its purpose. Let the pieces dry out thoroughly before storing them, as a fresh coat prints itself off.
Paints, primer and the filing album are not included in the package.
It pays to spray the pieces at the end of a session, while the airbrush is still set up and the paint mixed. Trying a shade out in a separate session means mixing it again, and with that the risk that the sample will not match what ends up on the model.
