A package of two smooth polystyrene sheets one and a half millimeters thick and measuring nineteen by eleven centimeters. A thicker sheet suits where a part has to carry a load or hold its shape: bases, bulkheads, frames and supports under terrain. The material can be cut, sanded, bent once warmed and glued with ordinary cement for plastic.
Score a sheet of this thickness along a rule from both sides and only then snap it at the score. It is glued with cement for polystyrene, which dissolves the plastic and welds the joint. Degrease the faces before gluing. With a thicker sheet it pays to level the edges after snapping with a file, because the break tends not to be entirely straight. If you want to bend a sheet, warm it gently with hot air, but carefully, as overheated polystyrene ripples and the surface goes dull.
A millimeter and a half is the thickness that will already hold its shape over a larger area and can still be worked with ordinary tools.
