A set of pre-cut painting masks for a model of the German Junkers Ju 87 dive bomber in the R version, in 1:24 scale. Unlike ordinary masks for glazing, this set deals with the markings and the technical lettering: what is usually applied as a decal is here sprayed directly in paint. The result has no glossy film under the motif, so the markings look like part of the finish rather than like stuck-on foil.
The Ju 87 R was the long-range version of the dive bomber, adapted for greater reach by auxiliary tanks under the wing. It was used mainly over the sea and in the Mediterranean, where the ordinary version did not have enough fuel. The machine was powered by the inverted V12 Junkers Jumo, that is, an engine with its cylinders below the crankshaft, and its fixed landing gear with aerodynamic fairings is one of the best-known silhouettes of the war.
Masking markings is more demanding than masking glazing and calls for an order of work. Let the surface cure completely, only then apply the mask and spray very thin coats so that nothing runs under the edge. On multicolored characters you work in layers and let each one dry in between. Try the placement of all the mask parts dry beforehand.
The set contains painting masks only. Paints and the model are not included in the package.
