Zinc Chromate Primer

Hataka Blue Line - zinc chromate primer shade, 10 ml

An acrylic modeling paint from the Polish maker Hataka, from the Blue Line range, in the shade of period zinc chromate primer. Watch out for one thing: it is a paint imitating the look of the period primer, not a primer in the modeling sense. It serves to paint the places where the bare primer coat was visible on the real machine. Blue Line is a water-thinned acrylic tuned above all for the brush, and the bottle holds 10 ml.

What the paint imitates

Zinc chromate primer was used as an anticorrosion base on the metal structures of aircraft. It had a characteristic greenish yellow tone and was visible anywhere a topcoat was not applied: in the landing gear bays, in the cockpits, on the inner faces of panels and on unfinished parts. That is exactly why this shade is indispensable for builders of aircraft subjects.

Use

• Stir the paint thoroughly before taking any out, as the pigment settles to the bottom.
• It is applied like an ordinary paint and does not replace a modeling primer.
• For the airbrush, thin with water or with acrylic thinner from the same maker.
• Apply it in the landing gear bays and cockpits before the parts are closed up.
