1:144 Fairchild NC/AC-123K Provider is a plastic kit of the transport Provider in the form of a machine for night search and attack on targets.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit in 1:144 scale captures the Fairchild C-123 Provider in its least usual form: as a machine for night search and attack on targets. The box gives the designation NC/AC-123K, that is, the version with surveillance and targeting equipment. The manufacturer states the extent of the package and the marking options on the box.
The twin-engine Provider was originally a tactical transport aircraft; in the late C-123K version auxiliary jet engines were added under the wing alongside the piston engines. In the Black Spot program two Providers were converted into night attack machines: in the long nose they received an infrared scanner, a low-light-level television and a laser rangefinder, and under the fuselage dispensers of cluster munitions. Unlike the AC-47, AC-119 and AC-130 night gunships they had no side-firing gun at all. They first worked over the Korean peninsula against infiltrating vessels, then in Southeast Asia against trucks. After the trials both machines were returned to C-123K form.
In this scale the cleanliness of the seams and a thin coat of paint decide - a heavy application hides the fine surface texture. Mask the cabin and the windows before painting, and on the nose with its equipment avoid dry sanding. Put gloss varnish under the decals and seal them with matte.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
