The Brazilian Embraer ERJ 145 is a twin-engine regional airliner with its engines at the rear of the fuselage. The military branch of this family carries the designation EMB-145 and includes machines for radar early warning with an antenna above the fuselage as well as reconnaissance versions. The P-99 is the naval patrol variant, that is, the EMB-145MP: an aircraft with radar for searching out surface targets and with operator stations in the cabin. It was built in only small numbers and the sole customer was Mexico. The armed anti-submarine form of the P-99 remained at the project stage with the manufacturer, so the machines in service carried neither torpedoes nor anti-ship missiles.
On an airliner airframe the main work is in a smooth surface and straight edges: fill and sand the seams, then apply a uniform base color so that the substrate does not show through anywhere. Mask the cabin glazing and the windows before painting. Decals with lines go on more easily over gloss varnish and are settled with a decal fixer.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
