Sea King is a monograph of the British naval helicopter from the Warpaint series, volume No. 95. The volumes of the Warpaint series combine the history of one type with an extensive photographic section, with color profiles of camouflage schemes and with drawings in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A publication, not a kit. Volume No. 95 of the Warpaint series follows the Sea King from its licensed production through the individual versions to its rescue and radar service, including operators and markings.
The Westland Sea King is the British licensed form of the American Sikorsky S-61 helicopter, with Rolls-Royce Gnome turbines, a boat hull and a folding rotor. It came about for finding and destroying submarines, but it became famous above all as a rescue machine in a striking yellow finish. The Commando assault version and the AEW radar picket widened the brief; both went through the Falklands. With the British armed forces the Sea King served for more than forty years.
For modelers of helicopters who are working out the differences between the anti-submarine, rescue and radar versions, and for readers with an interest in British naval aviation. As a source it serves for choosing camouflage and markings and for checking the details that differ between individual versions. It can be read on its own, without previous knowledge of the real subject, and it also works as a general survey of the type.
