DSPIAE SF-16 is a glass polishing file with an irregular profile. The sister version to the SF-17 variant, with a differently shaped working section.
Responsibility details are not available.
A file of tempered glass with a very fine texture and an irregularly shaped working section. The shape solves a problem a flat file cannot deal with: in a narrow joint, in a corner and in a concave transition the marks of sanding stay behind, because a flat face does not reach there. A shaped profile polishes them out along with the rest of the part.
It practically removes no material, it only smooths the surface, so it comes in after abrasive paper rather than instead of it. Against metal, tempered glass does not clog as fast, does not corrode and does not dirty light-colored plastic with rub-off, which tells on light-colored parts.
The file will be appreciated by those who finish intricate parts before a gloss coat: robot figures, car bodies with pressed shapes and models with many separate panels. For large flat faces a file with a flat working section is more suitable.
A shaped file does not replace a flat one, it complements it. Faces and longer edges are finished with a flat working section and this one comes in only where the flat one cannot reach. Do not breathe in the sanding dust from plastic and resin; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
